Comic making

This week we have been using a app called Pixton it is a app where you can make comics and make them however you want if you want to make comics is well I suggest using Pixton.

film festival

Feedback on the Tuki film festival on Thursday we went to the Tuki film festival it is a festival where kids make movies on a topic the topic this year was the west coast. I think it was good but I think maybe we could have like a 10 minute break.

Baking in maths

On thursday november 7th we did baking for our math this week we are learning measurement. We did baking because when you are baking you need to measure things.


I was in a group with Zac and Rebecca and we made vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing.  I really liked making them because we got to eat them at the end.  When we made them we accidentally made to much icing.

Cupcakes:
150g butter, softened
1 1/2 cups Chelsea Caster Sugar2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla essence
2 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1 1/4 cups milk
Buttercream Icing:
100g butter, softened
1 1/2 cups Chelsea Vanilla Flavoured Icing Sugar*
1-2 Tbsp milk
Cupcakes: Preheat oven to 190°C conventional or 170°C fan-forced. Beat butter with an electric mixer until smooth, add Chelsea Caster Sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and mix well. Add the sifted flour, milk and vanilla, beat until smooth. Place paper baking cases in a cupcake tin, spoon in mixture until they are about 2/3 full (don't overfill or they will form peaks). This recipe makes 24 cupcakes so you might need to do this in two batches. Bake for 20 minutes until golden or until they spring back when lightly pressed. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool while you prepare the icing.
Buttercream Icing: Beat the butter until it is pale and fluffy. Sift in the Chelsea Vanilla Flavoured Icing Sugar and mix, adding milk until you have a light, fluffy mixture. Add extra milk if you need a softer consistency. Spread or pipe icing over cupcakes and top with decorations as desired.

Pet half day

On thursday we had pet half day because this week is book week and our theme is all creatures great and small. We had a few rules for that it had to be a small contained animal so it couldn't be a big dog or a horse. I didn't take anything because my parents didn't have time to bring our little dog down to school. When the pets started to arrive we went into room 7 to say thankyou to all the parents for bringing the pets in then we did a scavenger hunt to find things such as green eyes,black and white,smallest,biggest,longest legs,the fattest and one that you would want to take home I said Troys puppy Turbo. Once you completed it you got your pet and read it a story since not everyone bring a pet you just buddied up with a friend I was with Rebecca she had a bunny called caramel. Then we did the medals for cutest, fattest and others. There were 3 bunnies 2 dogs 1 cat 1 chicken. 

South African heritage day

On Wednesday the 18th we celebrated South African heritage day for Miss B because she is from South Africa.

There are 3 kinds of food that a lot of people eat there is Bunny Chow, Bunny Chow is mince in a loaf of bread. A Smiley is a sheep's head i know it's disgusting and lastly is a Walkie Talkie a Walkie Talkie is chicken feet.We ate some food there was Peppermint caramel tart and beef jerky lastly these coconut and chocolate biscuit.

You know about the haka well they have there thing that is Zulu dancing there is a tridison for boys and girls to dance toplis.

There are 3 clicks but i can't remember what one is which.

Ndebele is a house that has a bunch of patterns search it up they are quiet cool.There is also shacks that people live in in the poorer parts of South Africa.

We made our own shack out of popsicle sticks and we made rock art on a tiny canvas.

Online safety

This week we have been learning about online safety because we use our chromebooks alot at school.

Our class has been saying but what about our blogs that shares a lot of stuff about us such as our name,school,where we've been and lots of other stuff.Here is some stuff that you shouldn't share online your real name,address,personal info,where you're going,what you look like,what school you go to and what town you live in.
